According to, Descendants of John Vaughan in Newport, Rhode Island, 1638. published in 1976 by the author, H. Vaughan Griffin, Sr.,Rutland, Vermont: "In 1798 George (Vaughan) emigrated to Ohio and traveled there on a four horse sleigh with all his possessions." He settled first in the bottom lands of the Ohio River near Columbus, about 5 miles from Losantiville (named derived from Le-os-ante-ville, now called Cincinnati) on land purchased from John Cleves Symes. Later he moved to Delhi Township, now Price Hill, Cincinnati; and died there in 1852. John G.Vaughan was told that the family Bible was lost after the demise of Ruth Richards Vaughan.
