C123.jpg
The jet assist engine on a C123 over Vietnam. The 4th Inf Div Band was traveling to a job by air.
CamEnariPostExchange.jpg
The Camp Enari Post Exchange. As I remember the rather large parking area was almost always empty as were the shelves inside. I did order a bunch of stereo equipment through this place for direct shipment home.
CampEnarifromtheairMAYBE.jpg
I think this is Camp Enari Vietnam from the air. It appears I took the photo out the window of an aircraft on approach as the 4th Inf Div Band returned from a job.
CampSchmidt.jpg
Camp Schmidt near Pleiku Vietnam in the distance. The 4th Inf Div Band was on a bus or truck going to a job nearby.

catholicmissionandorphanage.jpg
A Roman Catholic mission and orphanage in Pleiku Vietnam.
ColdSweat_miningremovaltruck.jpg
Cold Sweat, the truck, was a "gun" truck we saw from time to time. Gun Trucks were lightly armored trucks the usually had multiple heavy machine guns and were used to escort convoys. This one however appeared to be used to clear roads of mines. This was taken near or on Pleiku AFB while the 4th Inf Div Band waited for a ride to some job.
Concert_at_Fortified_Montenard_Village.jpg
The 4th Inf Div Band playing a concert at Fortified Montenard Village. I have photos of us going to this concert but this photo is property of Gene Horner. Interestingly, I can't really remember the actual concert.
Concert_in_Plieku_city_park.jpg
This is a newspaper clipping from "Stars and Stripes" (the official army newspaper back then). The 4th Inf Div Band was playing concert in a Plieku city park. This sort of thing which included lots of windows and us being sitting ducks always made me nervous. Clipping is property of Gene Horner.
controltowerfirestationTuyHoaAFBase.jpg
The control tower and fire station Tuy Hoa AF Base Vietnam. The 4th Inf Div Band was there to play for and march in the parade for change of command ceremony
culvertJeffGoreandIinstalled.jpg
A culvert Jeff Gore and I installed. This was one of the first jobs I had when I arrived in the 4th Inf Div Band. It made it so that the trucks and buses didn't have to bump into and out of the ditch to get into the company parking area.
DIXCOMChapelsunset.jpg
The Division Support Command Chapel at sunset.
Douglas_AD4Skyraider.jpg
A Douglas AD-4 Skyraider at Pleiku AFB.
DouglasAD4_SkyraiderPleikuAFB.jpg
A Douglas AD-4 Skyraider taking off from Pleiku AFB. These "slow and low" aircraft although past their prime in a jet war were great for close ground support.
DragonMountainandcrashsiterainandclouds.jpg
Dragon Mountain and crash site. Some rain and clouds which contributed to the crash remain over the mountain. A war historian saw this photo on another of my postings and wrote to me asking if I knew anything of the site. I do belief the 4th Inf Div Band's reaction team, or at least some of DISCOM's reaction force secured the site over night but that was about all I knew. That and the fact that the site was full of mines from the time the French had a fort on the mountain.
DragonMountainCobracrashsite.jpg
Dragon Mountain. The area of smoking weeds was the site of Cobra gunship crash in a blinding rain storm the night before..
DragonMountainnearCampEnari.jpg
Dragon Mountain near Camp Enari.
DragonMountainServiceClub.jpg
Dragon Mountain Service Club where replacements had an orientation speech and concert. The club also had a paperback book library and comfy home like chairs in some areas.
fortifiedmontenardvillage.jpg
A view of typical Montenard homes. This is inside the Fortified Montenard Village west of Camp Enari.
fortifiedmontenardvillage2.jpg
The Montenard homes inside the fortified montenard village west of Camp Enari. I think the big home was either a meeting place or the headman's home. I forget which.
FortifiedMontenardVillagewestofCampEnari.jpg
Fortified Montenard Village west of Camp Enari. The building with the flag was some sort of village office.
fortifiedmountanardvillagefromapproachroad.jpg
The fortified mountanard village west of Camp Enari from the approach road. You can see other tracks in the weeds. The road was mined by the VC from time to time and we'd avoid it by making our own road.
fortifiedmountenardvillageindistance.jpg
Smoke rising from the fortified mountenard village west of Camp Enari. I think the smoke was trash or latrine contents being burned. Anyway not an attack. The 4th Inf Div Band was going there to play a concert. The Montenard workers in our company area on base came from this village.
fortinsidefortifiedMontenardVilliagewestofCampEnari.jpg
The fort inside fortified Montenard Villiage west of Camp Enari. The Montenards who worked in our company area came from this village.
freedombird.jpg
A freedom bird at Cam Ranh Bay A.F. Base. These contracted airliners got their name because they took you back to the states. Likewise most of us came to Vietnam on contracted airliners. I rode a Continental Airlines aircraft to Vietnam. I forget who owned my "Freedom Bird".
FSBHighlanderHeights.jpg
FSB Highlander Heights. I think this was part of the Kontum complex but not sure.
FSBMaryLou.jpg
I suspect that this place got its name from the the song "Mary Lou" but trust me, this place didn't capture anyone's heart. From time to time the 4th Inf Div Band played jobs at Fire Support Base (FSB) Mary Lou.
